As demand in the nursing field continues to rise, more and more opportunities are becoming available for registered nurses.

While there are many pathways you can take to become a registered nurse, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is a great place to start. Not only is it becoming the preferred standard academic qualification in healthcare facilities, but it can provide you with a variety of career options.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 2.7 million registered nurses are employed in the United States, and approximately 60 percent work in hospitals. RNs can also find themselves in clinics, home heath care facilities, critical and long-term care facilities, physicians’ offices, rehabilitation agencies, and more.

As you can see, once you achieve your BSN and successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), you can take your nursing career anywhere!

This is especially a great degree choice for military spouses who move around frequently, like Marian ABSN student Heather Hay. “I’m married to a U.S. army pilot, and we’re part of a very big military community,” she says.

In her pursuit to become a nurse, Heather was searching for a reputable nursing program that would allow her to earn her degree as soon as possible. That’s when she found Marian University.

Today, unlike traditional nursing programs, Marian University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program is making it possible for Heather to earn a quality BSN degree in as few as 16 months.

“Being a military spouse and having a nursing degree will be so beneficial,” Heather says. “Nurses are portable and can work anywhere.”
